The ESG Reporting team’s mission is to build a lasting, scalable and trusted ESG reporting infrastructure to satisfy regulatory requirements and stakeholders’ expectations. We translate external requirements into internal needs and build tools and mechanisms that enable Amazon businesses to meet their ESG reporting obligations and effectively manage their ESG opportunities and risks.

We are looking for a ESG Risk Governance Manager to play a vital role in evaluating risk, and operationalizing the company’s commitments to sustainable business practices.

This person will assess ESG risks in line with key regulations (including the UK Mandatory Climate-related Financial Disclosures, EU Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (EU CSRD), US SEC Climate Rule, International Sustainability Standards Board Standards (ISSB), and others).

Key job responsibilities
– Evaluate the capacity for existing ESG risk governance practices, tools, and mechanisms to address risk-related requirements in ESG regulations worldwide;
– Contribute to refining and implementing a multi-year vision and roadmap for the ESG Risk Governance program, to include writing policies, standards, procedures, guideline documentation, and workbooks.
– Facilitate data gathering workshops, surveys, interviews and other mechanisms to collect and refine requirements for ESG Risk Governance tools and frameworks;
– Deliver updates and communications to senior executive leadership, partners, and other key stakeholders;
– Collaborate with business units and corporate functions to embed and strengthen ESG risk governance functions (across multiple businesses and geographies) in alignment with program strategic roadmaps; and
– Work with worldwide sustainability subject matter experts to continuously strengthen ESG risk governance, to include aligning internal programs with existing and upcoming climate and ESG regulations.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

• Experience in governance, risk, and/or compliance (GRC) subject matter-related; including in a corporate or consulting environment
• Experience in corporate business process analysis, design, and continuous improvement
• Experience implementing, managing, and/or assessing controls to safeguard and enable business operations
• Experience working successfully with diverse stakeholders (internal and external) as well as cross-functional teams
• Familiarity with major climate and ESG frameworks (TCFD, CSRD/ESRS, US SEC Climate Rule, EU Taxonomy, ISSB)

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
• Experience working on Environment, Social, and Governance (ESG) topics
• Experience with life-cycle risk governance (assessment, adjudication, mitigation, monitoring; reporting; assurance, and risk response)
• Experience working on boundary-spanning issues for organizations with global scope
• Experience preparing polished written communications for diverse audiences, including senior executive leadership
• Ability to deliver in ambiguity, work autonomously, and multi-task in an agile environment.
