Overview

The Environment and Sustainability Analyst will support Linxon’s environmental and sustainability goals by gathering, analysing, and reporting project data, assisting in sustainable procurement, and ensuring compliance with Linxon’s Best Environmental Management Practices (BEMPs). Reporting to the Environment and Sustainability Lead, this role will work closely with project and engineering teams, supporting monthly environmental reporting and client-facing tools, and contributing to our parent company AtkinsRéalis’ corporate sustainability reporting, including Scope 1-3 emissions.

What will you do?

  • Data Collection and Reporting
    • Gather and analyse monthly project data on waste, water, energy, and material usage, submitting information to Linxon and client reporting systems on schedule.
    • Prepare regular and ad hoc reports on carbon reduction, environmental performance, and progress on sustainability KPIs for both internal and external stakeholders.
    • Assist the marketing team with case studies promoting sustainability implementations across our UK projects.
    • Assist the Environment and Sustainability Lead with the development of PowerBI Sustainability Dashboards and SharePoint pages promoting environment and sustainability tools, best practices, lessons learned and bulletins.
  • Support for Corporate Sustainability Reporting
    • Assist the Global Head of Sustainability in gathering environmental data from Linxon offices, including metrics on paper use, waste, water, energy, travel and carbon emissions.
    • Collect and submit Linxon’s Scope 1-3 emission data to AtkinsRéalis for corporate sustainability reporting, ensuring data accuracy and alignment with industry standards.
  • Carbon Interface Tool (CIT) and Sustainability Action Plan Tracking
    • Assist the Environment and Sustainability Lead in developing carbon baseline reports during tendering and work closely with engineering to ensure practical, project-specific carbon reduction strategies utilising the Carbon Interface Tool (CIT).
    • Track and report CIT progress quarterly, providing updates to stakeholders on achievements against targets and identifying further reduction opportunities.
    • Assist the Environment and Sustainability Lead in maintaining a Sustainability Action Plan for each project to identify and track sustainability opportunities.
    • Regularly monitor progress on the Sustainability Action Plan (SAP) to ensure initiatives are being implemented by the action owners according to schedule.
  • Development of Environmental Management Plans
    • Assist the Environment and Sustainability Lead in the development and implementation of the project;
    • Construction Environmental Management Plan (CEMP) ensuring compliance with legislation and our Best Environmental Management Practices (BEMP) guide for project activities.
    • Site Waste Management Plan (SWMP) to promote responsible waste handling and disposal on all projects.
    • Project-specific Carbon Management Plans, identifying carbon reduction strategies aligned with project and corporate sustainability goals.
  • Stakeholder Engagement and Strategy Support
    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support Linxon’s sustainability strategy, focusing on carbon reduction, renewable energy, resource efficiency, biodiversity net gain and social value.
    • Participate in client-organised sustainability workshops and working groups and deputise for the Environment and Sustainability Lead when needed.
    • Engage with project stakeholders, including client sustainability representatives and external advisors, to share best practices and align project activities with sustainability goals.
    • Support the procurement team with assessing the sustainability credentials and scoring the RFQ responses of our key suppliers and contractors.
    • Support and promote social value initiatives such as the STEM Ambassador programme, ensuring that Linxon is providing a benefit to the local communities in which we operate.

Qualifications:

  • Good experience in environmental management, sustainability analysis, or similar roles, particularly in emissions tracking and reporting.
  • 3 or more A-Levels (Grade A*-C) [or equivalent qualification]
  • Experience monitoring, reviewing and verifying carbon reduction performance.
  • Must be willing to travel inside the UK and to European countries as required in-line with business needs.
  • A highly effective communicator/influencer with a good understanding of construction environments.
  • Ability to communicate technical information in an accessible way.
  • Proficiency in data analysis tools (Excel, Power BI, or equivalent); experience with emissions reporting tools for Scope 1-3 is preferred.
  • Knowledge of environmental management systems (EMS), biodiversity net gain practices, and environmental legislation.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to present technical information to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Well-organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple tasks effectively.
  • Strong presentation skills for both internal executive and external customer facing meetings.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Membership of appropriate professional body – IEMA of similar.
  • Experience with carbon reporting frameworks (e.g., GHG Protocol, PAS2080) and knowledge of sustainability standards such as GRI, TCFD, or CDP.
  • Familiarity with sustainability software or tools for carbon and emissions tracking.
  • Certification in sustainability-related fields (e.g., LEED, ISO 14001) is a plus.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Sustainability, Environmental Engineering, or a related field.
