Overview
Colchester Institute is looking for a proactive and passionate Environmental Sustainability Officer to support the Deputy Chief Executive in delivering our ambitious Environmental and Sustainability Strategy. You’ll play a central role in reducing the College’s environmental impact and promoting a culture of sustainability across all areas of campus life.
About the Role
You’ll work with colleagues across the College, especially within Facilities, to:
- Drive improvements in carbon reduction, energy use, waste, travel, procurement, water, construction, biodiversity and community engagement.
- Maintain and analyse accurate environmental data to track progress and inform key decisions.
- Support the development and monitoring of sustainability policies, including Net Zero Carbon, Biodiversity, and Sustainable Travel.
- Deliver engaging communications, campaigns and events to raise awareness and inspire positive change.
- Keep up to date with legislation and best practice to ensure continual improvement.
About You
We’re seeking someone with:
- A genuine passion for environmental sustainability.
- Strong data and analytical skills.
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
- The confidence to lead projects and influence others.
- Experience in environmental management or sustainability is desirable but not essential.
Essential Qualifications:
- Degree in environmental sustainability or other relevant subject
- Minimum 3 A Level passes
Essential Experience:
- Experience of environmental management programmes
