Overview

We’re looking for a Compliance & Sustainability Officer to help keep Extract Coffee Roasters operating safely, ethically and to the highest food and environmental standards.

You’ll play a key part in how we make coffee better, ensuring our roastery meets food safety, health & safety and sustainability requirements every day. This is a hands-on, organised and people-focused role for someone who enjoys getting into the detail, spotting risks before they become problems and taking pride in doing things properly.

What you’ll do

  • Support and maintain our food safety and quality systems (SALSA, HACCP, Soil Association, Rainforest Alliance and B Corp).
  • Coordinate audits and inspections, keeping documentation up-to-date and ready for review.
  • Carry out health & safety checks, risk assessments, and help ensure compliance across all Extract sites.
  • Keep accurate records for training, environmental data, and certification standards.
  • Help deliver toolbox talks and briefings to build awareness and best practice across the team.
  • Work with the wider company to keep Extract safe, compliant and continuously improving.
  • Support sustainability reporting and environmental data collection, helping us reduce waste and make measurable impact where it counts.

Who you are

  • Experienced in a food or beverage manufacturing environment (coffee experience a bonus).
  • Knowledgeable in food safety standards such as SALSA, HACCP or ISO 22000.
  • Familiar with health & safety practices and confident supporting safe systems of work.
  • Highly organised with excellent attention to detail and clear communication skills.
  • Purpose-led and values-driven, with a genuine commitment to sustainability and doing business the right way.
  • Comfortable working with people at all levels, from roastery floor to leadership team.
  • Driven by values and teamwork.

Why join us?

We’re an independent, B-Corp-certified coffee roastery built on craft, sustainability and community. You’ll join a supportive, people-first culture that values integrity, creativity and collaboration.

  • Salary £30,000–£35,000 depending on experience
  • Company pension, additional parental leave, sick pay
  • Wellbeing support through our EAP program & yoga
  • 31 days holiday (including bank holidays)
  • On-site parking
  • Great coffee. Great people.
  • A purpose-led workplace where everyone can make a difference
