Overview
As a CFO Solutions ESG & Sustainability Manager you will:
- Manage projects which focus on the application of sustainability reporting standards, eg, preparation of sustainability reports, implementation support for new standards and regulations including IFRS Sustainability Standards, undertaking sustainability materiality assessments, horizon scanning, facilitating workshops and training – often working as part of cross-functional teams including ESG Assurance and Net Zero Advisory
- Engage with their client’s business, connecting their sustainability reporting requirements with their commercial decisions
- Be the key contact for day-to-day queries
- Help shape the future direction of the ESG & Sustainability team, contributing ideas and strategic insight to build out our proposition in response to evolving client needs, market trends, and regulatory developments
- Utilise their network across the wider firm to promote the ESG & Sustainability team’s capabilities, collaborating with colleagues in other service lines to unlock new cross-line-of-service (XLOS) opportunities and drive integrated solutions for clients
- Educate teams across the wider firm on our ESG & Sustainability offering and developing strong XLOS relationships
- Manage the delivery of multiple projects in relation to client service, timescales, budgets, and risk management procedures
- Manage the onboarding process for new clients and projects within the ESG & Sustainability team
- Provide support, motivate, and coach team members and provides feedback through regular communication and timely feedback
- Have responsibility for the resourcing of team projects and productivity levels
- Manage the overall risk of engagements and consults as necessary
- Support the wider CFO Solutions team in areas such as financial reporting advisory when required to meet business needs
Knowing you’re right for us
Joining us as a CFO Solutions ESG & Sustainability Manager, the minimum criteria you’ll need is a professional qualification (ACA, ICAS, CA, ACCA or CIPFA) with post qualification experience, and to be confident managing a large portfolio of clients. It would be great if you had some of the following skills, but don’t worry if you don’t tick every box, we’ll help you develop along the way.
- A personal passion for sustainability and a desire to develop and maintain technical skills
- Experience in managing a medium to large portfolio of clients or projects
- Strong process management skills and attention to detail
- Sustainability reporting experience and knowledge of global sustainability reporting standards and frameworks such as UK SRS, ESRS, TCFD, TNFD
- Experience in an accounting or sustainability reporting advisory function would be advantageous
- Previous audit experience would be advantageous
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, including experience engaging with senior client stakeholders through facilitated workshops
- Proven experience in delivering Materiality Assessments for large and complex organisations would be advantageous
- Experience of sustainability strategy design; linking materiality, to policy to metrics, KPIs and targets would be advantageous
- Demonstrates a hands-on, proactive, entrepreneurial mindset—driven to identify opportunities, take initiative, and deliver impactful results while fostering team development
- Ability to be comfortable with ambiguity and working in a fast-changing environment
- Excellent communication, influencing and delivery skills, including demonstrable experience in internal advocacy, training, and cross-team education
- Experience in project management and developing client relationships
- Experience in coaching and mentoring colleagues
- Experience in business development and growing the business including strategic account growth, cross-functional collaboration, and XLOS opportunity identification
- Experience in onboarding and project risk management would be advantageous
